Intern Bio: Devin Borst

Devin Borst is from Portland, Oregon. He is 19 years old; Devin graduated from Franklin high school in 2013. Devins hobbies include playing games like hacky sack and long boarding. His plan this year is to go to PCC, he is going to study commercial design and residential design.

        His main job at PPS is pack and unpack pallet to the specification to a different forms for the nutrition services. He chose to intern at PPS because he wants to get a better perspective of what is out there.  Devin also wants to get a better understanding of the job he is doing right now, because the job he is doing at PPS is a job not everyone could do it if they don’t have a proper experience. Since he didn't have any experience when he started interning at PPS. This internship will help him with his goal in the future.





Intern Bio: Nabin Dihmal

Nabin Dihmal is from Nepal.  He moved to the U.S in 2008. Nabin is 18 years old, he graduated this year from Cleveland High School. Nabin speaks three languages: Nepali, Hindi, and English. Nabin’s enjoys reading and he is interested in computers.  He plans to study engineering at Portland State University this year. 
          His main job at PPS is (GIS) Geographic Information System. He sometimes goes out on fields to conduct field verification of GIS analysis of three study area. Nabin chose to intern at PPS because he wants to learn more about the PPS, since he graduated from a Portland Public School. Before he leaves, he wants to learn more about the GIS and different jobs that involves working with computer systems

Intern bio: Jasmine Gonzalez

   Jasmine Gonzalez is from Portland. She is 17 years old and a senior at Lincoln High School. Her dream job is to work in the math, science or engineering fields.
   Jasmine works on the GIS Project. The GIS Project is basically the emergency exits in all the schools. Jasmine wants to learn what is expected out of the work force and responsibility while interning here at PPS. 

Intern Bio: Zachary Clayville

Zachary Clayville is 17 years old, he is an incoming senior at Franklin High School. After graduating, he plans to work in a welding company for a year and enlist in the military. he enjoys designing, constructing and working with computers. Zachary’s dream job is to design drones.

Zachary’s internship is to test out the schools applications/ programs before they are published. He also provides help in the Google Apps for Education (GAFE). He works with his supervisor Niku Schreiner. So far, Zachary has learn more about coding and the process that apps go through before being published.

Intern Bio: Karolina Hurzthug



     Karolina Hurzhug was born in Ukraine, but she’s Romanian. Karolina is 17 years old. She goes to Madison high school; she is going to be a senior next year. Karolina moved to the U.S in 2006. She speaks four languages, Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, and English fluently. She also speaks a little Spanish. Karolina has three sisters and three brothers. Snowboarding and singings are Karolina’s hobbies. She likes shopping as well. After graduating from high school, Karolina is going to Mt; Hood community college. She is going to study Administration.

     Her main job at PPS is helping in the music repair shop and repairing musical instuments for the PPS building. She chose to intern at PPS because she wants to gain more experience with something she has never done before. By working at PPS Karolina has learned how to communicate with people. This internship has helped her a lot because she is also able to do office work which will be great for  future jobs.
            

Intern Bio: Love Tucker

     Love was born in Portland, Oregon she attends Benson high school, class of 2015. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and drawing. She plans on going to a HBC collage in Alabama.

     Love works in the Documents/ Architect department. Running errands from her desk to the warehouse. Love thinks the people who work here are interesting. "They are all so nice and well mannered," Says Love.  Love expects to get work experience out of this internship and a better understanding of networking.

Intern Bio: Aalyah Degrate- Edwards

     Aalyah Degrate-Edwards is a senior at Cleveland High School. She plans on going to PCC after she is done with her studies at Cleveland. Aalyah's dream job is to work with kids or own her own hair salon.

     Aalyah works in the IT department. She enjoys working with the computers and meeting new people. What she expects get out of this internship is to learn how computers work. 

Intern Bio: Veronika Prokhorova

Veronika Prokhorova is 17 years old and Russian, she was born in Kazakhstan. Veronika arrived in America in 2006. Veronika is an incoming senior at Da La Salle Catholic High School and she plans to attend  law school. Veronika loves to draw, sing, socialize and work with kids.

Veronika works at the music repair shop with her supervisor Jennie Johnson and coworker Karolina Hurzhuy. Veronika chose this internship to get new experience and do something new. She repairs musical instruments like clarinets. So far, she gained some new skills like repairing some specific instruments and being more focused.

Intern Bio: Tala Bear

Tala Bear was born in California and moved here in Oregon when she was 15 years old. Tala enjoys traveling and meeting new people. She recently graduated from Wilson High School. Tala plans to attend PCC to get an associates degree and attend a university in Southern California. Her career interest are business and finance.


Tala works in the nutrition services department with her supervisor Whitney Ellersick and her coworker Devin Borst. She does clerical work and organizing files and postcards. Tala wants to learn more about clerical duties, being more organized and office ethic. She expects to be more comfortable in an office setting.

Intern Bio: Jalato Sultessa

        Jalato Sultessa is from Ethiophia. He moved to the U.S in 2011. Jalato is 16 years old, he's going to be a Junior at Cleveland High School next year. Jalato speaks three languages, Oromo, Amaric and English. He has nine sisters and six brothers. Jalato's the youngest in his family. Playing baseketball  and soccer are Jalato's hobbies. Also he loves spending time with his family. His goal after  graduating from high school is to become Doctor. He wants to go to University of Oregon after graduating from high school. 
     His main job is keeping track of enrolling computers for PPS. Jalato chose to intern at PPS because he wants to gain more experience for the future.

Intern Bio: John Mendoza


John Mendoza was born in the Philippines and moved to Oregon in 2003. John graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 2014. His hobbies are playing rugby and hanging out with his friends. John plans on going to any university in California. 

What he enjoys about interning at PPS is being able to shadow IT workers and learn about the technology field. John plans on getting to know how they set-up computers in PPS, learn how they monitor computers and learning about computer programs and job experience so he can make good money.

Intern Bio: Nabi Amin

Nabi Amin was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1996. He arrived in America in 2005 when he was nine years old. Nabi is interested in sports like soccer, basketball and cross country. He is an incoming senior at Cleveland High School, home of the Warriors. After graduating from high school, Nabi plans to go to a four year university and get a degree in finance, engineering or physical therapy.


Nabi interns in the IT department, where he unboxes computers, enrolls them into the school system, registers them in the database and boxes them up. He works with his supervisor Michael Lively and with several of his coworkers. He chose this internship because he loves working with computers and wants to learn the different values that technology can offer.

Intern Bio: Everlin Sonish

       Everlin Sonish is from Micronesia Chuuk. She moved to the U.S in 2008. She's 18 years old, and she graduated from Madison High School. Everlin speaks two languages, English and Micronesian 
Everlin's goal after graduating from high school is to become a travel agent. Volleyball is one thing she enjoys playing. 
     
     Her main job is keeping track of rolling computer at PPS. She chose to intern at PPS, because she wants to gain more experience and learn new things about PPS. 

Intern Bio: Stephon Hartley

      Stephon Hartley graduated from Jefferson High School in Spring 2014. His hobbies include playing basketball and working. Stephon plans to go to Portland State University for two years then transfer to University of Oregon. His dream job is to become a lawyer.

     He is currently interning in the mail room at PPS. His duties in the mail department include sorting mail and meter mail. Stephon's goal as an intern is to gain knowledge and better understanding of mail transportation. His favorite part of the internship is the cross training. 

Intern Bio: Brandon Saephan

        Brandon Saephan is 17 years old, he recently graduated from Roosevelt High School, home of the Rough Riders. He loves to listen to music and be outdoors. Brandon plans to attend University of Oregon in the fall. Brandon is focused on getting a career in business.


       Brandon's internship is site visiting, he visits the high school's football or track fields that are being replaced. He takes pictures and fills out site forms. He works with his coworker Rayanna, and supervisor Patrick Lebouef.

      Brandon chose this internship to learn about the business and management part of the construction happening to the football fields. Brandon has learned, so far, about the operation and improvement going on at the football fields.

Intern Bio: Max Van Donsel

       Max Van Donsel was born in Burbank,California and graduated from Mt.Scott High School in 2014. He is 18 years old and the youngest sibling in his family. Max's passion is skateboarding, his favorite place to skate is Mt. Tabor, “I would say skating brings me most joy in my life,” Max says. He spend a lot of time hanging out with friends around town. “I am very thankful for the people in my life they bring me lots of happiness,” Max says.

       His plans for education, although not completely thought out, includes getting his associates degree from PCC, then transferring to a university like PSU to complete a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. His life dream is to become a successful entrepreneur after working with his degree in a construction firm for however many years it takes him to get the funds necessary to be financially sufficient. 
       He chose to be an intern at PPS because he is interested in construction management. His supervisor is Mike Kwaske.  For Max's internship he maintains site reports on multiple construction sites. The title of his job is a Jr. Manager. Max expects to learn as much as possible and take every opportunity he gets in this profession.

Intern Bio: Stigma Sheikh

  Stigma Sheikh was born in Kenya, Africa and moved to the United States in 2004 at eight years old. Stigma attends Lincoln High School, home of the Cardinals, and is an incoming senior. After graduating high school, Stigma is planning on joining the U.S. Marine Corps. Later, Stigma hopes to get a law degree, masters degree in chemistry and biology and a degree in architecture.

       Stigma is a construction manager intern. The job includes managing the construction sites, along with fellow interns, Hussein Sheikh and Max Van Donsel. Stigma chose this internship at PPS to learn more about the construction field. Stigma expects to learn how equipment on construction sites work and how to do better management on construction sites with help from supervisor, Michelle Chariton. 

Intern Bio: Lan-Vy Tran

Lan-Vy Tran was born in Vietnam, she moved to the U.S in 2010. She is 18 years old, and she graduated from Cleveland High School in 2014. Lan speaks two languages, Vietnamese and English.Vy's goal after graduating from high school is to become a nurse. Traveling is one of Vy's hobbies. And also spending time with her family. She has one little brother and is the oldest in her family. 
        She chose to intern at PPS because she wants to gain more experience, and she wants to know more about PPS. During Vy’s internship she is helping set up the chromo book for PPS teachers.
